Time for an open path for software and savings
Government policy on the use of open source software (OSS) in the
public sector has shifted with Cabinet Office minister for digital
engagement Tom Watson's declaration that, if taxpayers are to get
maximum value for money, there needs to be a level playing field for
OSS, to enable open competition with the big brands. But is government
